I could write my own 10 tips for parents, but why re-invent the wheel, so to speak? This advice from another piano teacher is excellent. I hope you find it useful.
Breathing properly is SO important for wind instrument players! It is the "gas" that powers our instrument. Oboe players always have too much air left at the end of a passage, but this lesson is good for oboists to practice CONTROL. It is also just fun, and a good way to relax.
The only thing I do not agree with in the video is to practice yoga. If you do yoga and it helps you, fine. I personally have tried it, but it is not for me. I do Pilates instead.
I encourage all my students to try this, even piano students. Sometimes we concentrate so hard that we forget about inhaling deeply or regularly. Like anything, it takes practice, but you will learn to control your breathing quickly if you do!
